THE EXPERIENCE
The Panticosa Apiary, an ecotourism project founded by Sandra Viu, is nestled at 1,450 metres above sea level in the enchanting Ripera Valley, in the heart of the Pyrenees.
This unique experience offers eco-guided tours focused on beekeeping and observing bees in their natural environment.
The visit begins with a scenic walk along the Ripera trail until you reach the apiary. Once there, you’ll suit up and prepare the smoker, ready to approach the hives.
We’ll descend to visit one of the colonies, which are rotated to avoid stressing the bees. Here you’ll watch them pollinate flowers, build honeycombs, collect pollen and nectar, and learn to distinguish fertile and infertile females and males. Afterwards, we’ll remove our suits and relax.
The experience concludes with a tasting of local products: wines, juices, cheeses, artisanal charcuterie and nuts we have gathered ourselves, all enjoyed as the sun sets over the Tena Valley.
