WITCHES IN THE TENA VALLEY

Discover the history of witchcraft through a dramatized guided tour:

who the witches were, why witchcraft arose in the Pyrenees, what spells they cast, what amulets we still find protecting our homes today. Learn the names and surnames of real witches who lived in these mountains, learn how to make your own natural ointment and shudder with the possessed women of Tena, the worst known case of demonization in Europe that occurred in the 17th century.
An ecotourism experience based on highlighting the attractions of the area, disseminating, valuing, protecting and using its resources moderately.

Itinerary

Day 1 Thursday

Transfer from Zaragoza or Jaca to Sallent de Gállego

Our adventure begins on Thursday at 8:30 p.m., tasting a Pyrenean menu at a welcome dinner, then, with a guided night tour through the same streets of Sallent that the witches used to walk, we will enter the world of witchcraft.

Day 2 Friday

After a delicious Pyrenean breakfast, our day will begin by visiting the witchcraft interpretation center in the Alto Gállego in the town of Piedrafita de Jaca and a guided tour through its streets where we will see in situ the amulets that still protect our houses today. Then we will walk through the same forest where in the s. XVI the witches celebrated their covens and we will discover the plants they used and the uses they gave them. We will arrive at Tramacastilla de Tena, a beautiful Pyrenean town epicenter of the largest epidemic of demonization in Europe. Menu lunch in one of the selected restaurants in the area.

In the afternoon, we will attend a workshop where we will make our own Pyrenean healing ointment.

Day 3 Saturday

After breakfast we will visit one of the most magical places in the Tena Valley, the Santa Elena Gorge. Place where numerous legends occurred, and which for centuries has been the scene of the most mystical meetings of druids and healers,

We will visit a Neolithic dolmen, an old defensive fort from the 16th century, a beautiful hermitage, a magical fountain of pure Pyrenean waters and a beautiful waterfall.

Free afternoon to enjoy the Ordesa y Viñamala Biosphere Reserve, its towns and trails.

Day 4 Sunday

Breakfast and check out at the hotel.

Transfer back to Zaragoza or Jaca
