When you arrive at one of the rural houses in Montoro de Mezquita you are given a map of the Treasure.
Tourists who have it in their hands become real explorers who make an interesting journey through time and history that is present in the environment of Montoro, discovering its history, its industrial architecture, its natural and cultural resources. Throughout the routes you must take several photos proving that you have done it and when you present them you get a small gift. A great way to discover with the family a very surprising environment.

What does the activity propose?
When the guests arrive at the rural houses of Montoro de Mezquita, they are given a map with the marked routes. They must “explore” and find the six points of the chosen route and take a picture in each one of them. When they arrive at the house and show their snapshots, they are given a photo album to keep their memories; a “pin” with the drawing of the route achieved and the diploma showing that they have passed the corresponding level.
With this action the rural houses of Montoro de Mezquita intend to encourage curiosity, learning and respect for nature through the discovery of the traditions and history of the town.
This map of the Treasure has also been adapted to family tourism, and it has located the points to visit in five routes of different difficulty, with six points of visit in each of them, the routes are marked in different colors.
Tourists who have it in their hands become real explorers on an interesting journey through time and the history existing in the environment of Montoro, discovering the time when these lands were bathed by the sea of Tetis and that left the endemic ammonites in the area; the carnivorous dinosaurs that left their footprints, takes us to the interesting Neolithic with its paintings of Levantine Rock Art World Heritage Site in the rocks of Cantalar, visit a burial site in the Peña Vadada chasm; visit an ancient settlement, not yet accurately dated; discover a Hispanovisigoth necropolis; the amazing house of the Lord of Montoro, who became Viceroy of Mallorca; contemplate one of the oldest shrines of Maestrazgo, San Pedro de la Roqueta; get lost in the abandoned neighborhood of Hoya Serval, visit an old flour mill that worked until the late 50’s and be amazed with the old loom where hats were made for Turkey.
The traveler will not only be able to enjoy history, but also beautiful walks, impressive landscapes and petrified mythological beings such as the “Orco de Valloré”, which can be found on the way to the footbridges of the same name. To get there you pass through “Los Chorros”, an ideal place to take a bath in the natural jacuzzi; quench your thirst in the “Fuente de los Cinglos Verdes” and reach the impressive gorge that the river has excavated forming the “Estrecho de Valloré” (Valloré Strait).
Contemplate very interesting living monuments such as the ancient junipers of Hoya Serval, following the PR that leads to Pitarque, where the “Fuente del Vación” is located, with cold waters, and return to the ancient sanctuary of San Pedro de la Roqueta by the path used for seven centuries by the “Romeros” and discover the ravine at the foot of the Hermitage; There you can walk through a well-preserved ancient forest of Sabinas, enter the Cueva de la Mora and discover its legend and refresh yourself in the springs along the “Paseo Fluvial”. Cross the river and discover from the viewpoint of the “Pozo del Arco” the impressive Point of Geological Interest (PIG) that can be seen from there and, finally, enjoy the beautiful and perfect conical shape of the “Ciprés centennial of the Molino de las Herrerías”.
